Mitzvah Fair

Old York Road Temple – Beth Am has been hosting its own Mitzvah Day for many years. This year we are expanding to include the Kehillah Mitzvah Fair.

At our location we will be collecting, sorting, and packaging much needed items and doing projects to support many worthy entities; such as The Breathing Room, Baby Bundles, Jenkintown Food Cupboard, Mitzvah Circle, HIAS, Whosoever Gospel Mission, animal rescues, Jewish Relief Agency, Stars of Hope, Sara’s Smiles, and more.

We encourage everyone to drop off contributions of requested items beginning April 17, 2023 at the back door of our parking lot at 971 Old York Road, Abington, PA. The following donations will be accepted through Mitzvah Day:

• Individually packaged goldfish and other crackers
• cookies
• raisins
• pretzels
• granola bars
• single serve cereal or instant oatmeal cups/boxes/packages
• new, small blankets or fleece blankets
• chapstick/lip balm
• puzzle books
• pens
• small packs of tissues
• travel size hand sanitizer
• hand or body lotion
• small notebooks/journals
• peanut butter
• tuna in water
• gluten free foods
• low sodium/low fat hearty soups
• canned vegetables
• pasta sauce
• pasta
• canned lentils and beans
• rice
• canned fruit in natural juice
• full sized boxes of hot and cold cereals (not sugary)
• new/gently used baby clothes sizes 0-2T (no stains)
• baby hats
• shoes
• socks
• new bibs
• new baby rattles
• receiving blankets
• HE Dreft
• diapers (NB, 1 or 2)
• wipes
• onesies and sleepers
• new baby board books
• new pet products (food, snacks, and accessories)
• new/gently used clothing and shoes for all ages and genders (if you wouldn’t wear it, don’t donate it)
• only new underwear and socks for all ages and genders
• feminine hygiene supplies

This is an indoor and outdoor volunteer opportunity.

Hosting Organization’s COVID Policy: Mask wearing is optional as of this time. Masks may become mandatory based on health conditions on that day.
